Don't leave home without it
So, your travel itinerary is booked, now it’s time to arrange your travel insurance. This is arguably one of the most important things to arrange as it protects you against those unforeseen eventualities. Not only is this insurance important whilst you’re on holiday, but it also provides cover if you are unable to travel or your travel arrangements fall through, it’s worth arranging it as soon as you confirm your travel arrangements with your agent.
Buying the right travel insurance to suit your needs is important, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition. Insurers will ask for all relevant information during the quote to ensure the cover is sufficient for you. Tour operators will often include travel insurance in their booking conditions, so it is essential that you have valid cover in place to cover the duration of your trip and the activities you plan to partake in.
Don’t automatically choose the cheapest option available, whilst many travel insurance policies offer similar cover, it may not be suited to your requirements and it could prove to be a false economy should you need to make a claim.
You have two choices when purchasing travel insurance, you will usually have the option for single trip cover or an annual multi-trip. If you are a regular traveller and go abroad several times a year, it may work out worthwhile to purchase the annual multi trip cover.
Once this cover has been arranged, the holiday excitement can begin to build knowing you multi-trip against those circumstances you have no control over.
